Chiropractic
Chiropractic care at Body Therapeutics is one of the modalities we offer that is based on the premise that the body has the ability to heal itself, without surgery or medication. Chiropractic focuses on the manipulation of the musculoskeletal system to enable optimal functioning of the nervous system that may be impinged or restricted by mis-alignments in the spine and other joints. These restrictions are called subluxations and are the main impediment to healing that a chiropractor is trained to remove from the body.
What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic medicine is a safe and non-invasive method of treating musculoskeletal and nervous system disorders and their effects on the body. Most chiropractic procedures involve spinal and joint manipulations with great attention to proper body mechanics, anatomy & physiology. These manipulations align the musculoskeletal system, relax muscle tightness, alleviate pain and restore mobility, allowing the body to properly heal. Most patients report little to no discomfort during a manipulation, and often leave feeling more aligned inside their body.
What does chiropractic treat?
Because adjusting the spine enables the central nervous system to function optimally, there are numerous conditions that benefit from chiropractic care. Some of the most common conditions treated by chiropractors are back & neck pain, numbness & tingling in the extremities, headaches and fibromyalgia. Our chiropractor is also certified to fit you with custom orthotics, which are supportive structures worn inside your shoes that may help to correct mis-alignments in the spine that are effected by the chain of joints from your feet up through your ankles, knees and hips.
What can I expect when I come for chiropractic care?
Your first chiropractic treatment may last up to one hour and will involve a comprehensive physical assessment by our chiropractic physician. You can expect that our chiropractor will ask you many questions about any symptoms you may be experiencing at the time of the initial appointment and your medical history. He will test your range of motion in critical body parts associated with your discomfort and help you to understand how chiropractic may or may not help you with your health goals. Our chiropractic physician will help you understand the course of care he feels will help you reach those health goals and may recommend other treatment modalities offered at our center and elsewhere that will speed you along your way to achieving short-term comfort and long-term optimal health and well-being. Your initial appointment may be combined with your first treatment - if you are comfortable with that - and you may begin your care immediately.
